## Benefits of Double Glazing

Double glazing can make a noticeable difference to how your home feels throughout the year. By reducing heat transfer through your windows and doors, it can help keep your home cooler in summer and warmer in winter while reducing reliance on heating and air conditioning.

It can also reduce outside noise, improve security and help protect furnishings from UV exposure.

You can hear the difference for yourself. We made a video to show just how noticeable the noise reduction can be by playing loud music directly outside the front door. Indoors, it’s barely noticeable until the door is opened.

### Soundproofing

Double glazed products feature two sets of glass separated by a insulating gap filled with a layer of gas that significantly blocks external sounds to maximise noise reduction in internal areas.

### Save On Energy Bills

Double glazing provides better insulation to reduce the amount of heating and cooling your home needs, helping to lower energy use and make your home more energy efficient.

### Keep Warm in Winter

The double glazing uses two panes of glass with an insulated gap between them to slow heat transfer, helping to prevent indoor warmth from escaping and cold air from entering so your home stays warmer in winter.

### Stay Cool in Summer

Double glazing helps slow the transfer of heat into your home and keeps cool air from escaping, helping to keep Perth’s scorching summer heat outside and your home more comfortable while reducing reliance on air conditioning.

### Increase Property Values

By increasing energy efficiency, reducing outside noise, improving security and boosting buyer appeal, double glazing can add a significant increase to the overall value of a property.

### Extra Security

Double glazing can improve home security by adding an extra layer of glass, making windows and doors harder to break through than your standard single-glazed options, helping to deter potential intruders.

### Reduce Condensation

The thermal break that double glazing places between the interior and exterior slows heat transfer and prevents the moisture in the air from turning into water droplets.

### UV Protection

With two glass panes that filter UV, insulating gas that absorbs UV radiation, and Low-E coatings that reflect and absorb both infrared and UV rays, double glazing provides UV protection.

## Double glazing solutions to suit your style and budget

## How much does double glazing cost in Perth?

Double glazing in Perth can cost anywhere from $150 to $1,500 per sqm – depending on the installer. The price of double glazing also depends on the size of the home, for example, a 3 or 4-bedroom home, and the number of windows and doors. Many variables contribute to the overall price of double glazing, including:

Profile quality

Some manufacturers use inferior window and door profiles that are cheaper to purchase, but carry the risk of breaking down in WA’s harsh climate. At Climateframe, we use the Kommerling profile for the manufacture of our uPVC windows and doors, ensuring your double glazing solution features premium-quality materials that are tested for Australian conditions and guaranteed not to fail you.

Hardware quantity

The more opening components a window or door features, the more expensive the product will be to manufacture and install due to the cost of hardware items, such as hinges and handles, as well as the additional labour involved during both the manufacturing and installation process. With no hardware involved, fixed windows are the most cost-effective double glazing option available.

Window / door size

The size of the window or door also plays a significant role in determining the price of the double glazed item, with larger items priced higher than small items. This important consideration also affects the overall cost of the double glazing project due to the increased cost per item. This is because the larger a window or door is, the more materials are required to manufacture it.

Window / door colour

The colour of the window or door profile also plays a role in determining the cost of a double glazed item. Foiled profiles, such as signal grey, anthracite and golden oak, tend to be slightly more expensive than some other colour options as there’s more work involved in the extrusion of the profile. Generally, white and cream are the more cost-effective window and door profile colour options.

Glass type

Glass specifications also influence the price of double glazed windows and doors. Standard clear glass is the most cost-effective option, with upgrades, such as acoustic laminated glass, tinted and Low-E glass, adding around 15% to 35% to the overall cost of each individual item. Additionally, the thickness of the double glass panes (e.g., 6.38mm – 20.4mm) also influences double glazing prices.

Installation complexity

The complexity of the double glazing installation can significantly affect the overall costs of the project. Ground floor installations are more straightforward and cost-effective than installations on second or third levels, largely due to scaffolding requirements, the additional labour required and, potentially, the structural modifications the openings require to fit the new double glazed frames.

## Double Glazing Cost Guide For Perth (2026)

Before comparing the price of window systems, it’s important to have an understanding of the various options available in Perth. The current standard window system (in most homes) for Perth residential homes is single-glazed glass in aluminium frames. These window systems are cheap to supply, but are often of poor quality. Common issues with single-glazed products include poor security, colour fading, rattling, water leaks, drafts, poor noise abatement and very poor thermal performance.

There are three main types of double glazed window systems on the Perth market:

- Double glazed aluminium (Not thermally broken)
- double glazed aluminium (Thermally broken)
- uPVC frames

PVC frames combined with the right glass selection provide the best thermal performance. Thermal broken aluminium is the next best, and non-thermal broken aluminium frames have the lowest thermal performance compared with the two other double glazed options.

The quality of materials in the frames and workmanship in manufacturing are absolutely critical to the overall performance and longevity of the window systems. Good quality installation is also essential when considering upgrading to double glazing.

**Overseas vs Local Manufacture**

Some local suppliers are offering low-quality windows and doors manufactured overseas. These windows typically have more problems and fewer thermal and acoustic benefits. At Climateframe Double Glazing in Perth, we manufacture all our windows and doors locally at our Gnangara factory, ensuring the highest quality control standards with all our double glazing products.

**Retrofit Vs New Builds**

In terms of price, due to the amount of labour involved, there isn’t a significant difference when comparing retrofitting single-glazed window systems with double glazed systems in renovation work.

In new builds, the price difference between single glazing and uPVC double glazing is more pronounced. This is due mainly to the different installation methods. As a guide, the following table illustrates a price comparison between the various glazing options for a small home.

| | Renovation | New Build |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Thermal broken aluminium double glazing | $39,000 | $35,000 |
| uPVC double glazing | $25,000 | $21,000 |
| Non-thermal broken aluminium double glazing | $24,000 | $17,000 |
| Single glazed aluminium | $21,000 | $11,000 |

Considering the lifetime benefits of double glazing, the additional initial cost for a quality system is worth the investment.

Another way to get the best price for double glazed windows is to ask one of our team members to optimise the window styles from a cost perspective to assist with bringing down the overall cost of double-glazed windows. We can even show you comparisons of different styles of double glazed windows at the same sizes, so you can compare the price for yourself.

My wife and I recently engaged Climateframe Double Glazing to replace approximately half of the existing aluminium windows in our home with new uPVC double-glazed windows. We have been genuinely impressed with the entire experience, from our initial enquiry and quotation through to the office support, pricing, coordination and final installation. What stood out to us was how seamlessly everything came together. Every stage was handled efficiently, professionally and with a genuine willingness to help. The team made what could have been a fairly disruptive home improvement project feel remarkably straightforward and well organised. We appreciated the consistency of service across this business. It wasn't just one person doing a good job — everyone we dealt with positively contributed. The pricing competitive, communication clear, and the 3-day installation process professional, seamless AND helpful. With first stage of replacing our windows completed last week, we are considering engaging Climateframe again to replace more of the remaining windows in our home. For us, that is perhaps the strongest endorsement we can give a business — we are happy with the outcome and the team involved to return for another substantial project. Our sincere thanks to the entire Climateframe team for making the process so pleasant and efficient. We would happily recommend them to any homeowner, when replacing their aluminium windows.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic Service from Start to Finish! We couldn’t be happier with our experience with ClimateFrame! From the moment we walked into the showroom and spoke with the Sales Manager, we were impressed. He was friendly, knowledgeable and took the time to advise us on which products would best suit our home. We had already chosen the style of doors and windows we wanted, and he promptly arranged for someone to come out and measure up. Everything was handled quickly and efficiently, and we felt confident we’d made the right choice choosing ClimateFrame. Our quote arrived by email and we found the price to be very fair and reasonable, especially considering the quality of the products. As the windows and doors are manufactured in their own factory, the process took approximately six weeks, which we were more than happy with. The installation team were equally impressive! They arrived on time, were polite, professional, extremely efficient and clearly knew their products inside out. What impressed us most was how incredibly clean and careful they were. There was absolutely no damage, and when they left, you honestly wouldn’t have known tradesmen had even been in the house! We are absolutely delighted with our new windows and doors and couldn’t be happier with the entire experience. From the initial showroom visit right through to the finished installation, the service was outstanding. A fantastic company to deal with, excellent workmanship and quality products at a fair price. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend ClimateFrame to anyone!

Superb job. Great product, and best of all, competitive on pricing. No pushy salesman, just great, accurate advice. They also showed us around their modern factory. Zero issues on installation on our tricky double storey renovation. Lewis and Marco were great. My partner has 40 years experience in the window industry and is hard to please but he said they were, ‘tidy, knowledgeable and professional.’ 100% recommendation.

Absolutely stoked with the service and job done by the team here! Communicated with Amie early on who came out to my house and took me through the options and even showed me the product and the difference between PVC and aluminium. After confirming I wanted to go ahead, check and measure was done shortly after. Then from that it was 2 weeks before the job was booked in! The boys Roy and Steve came out and did an excellent job, the finish of the windows I have and how much attention to detail they gave to ensure every window was level, flush and well finished. I’m blown away that the team were able to rip out the old windows and put in the new ones so well. I was preparing to patch some of the areas but I didn’t need to at all. No damage to the walls or microcement we had in our bathroom, the guys really held their deal that I wouldn’t need to worry about a thing after! That was most definitely the case. They kept me informed the entire way through and cannot recommend enough. If you’re looking for Double glaze windows come to these guys!
